Irish Community Care Merseyside

2024 marks our 60th year - 60 years of providing care, community and connection to our Irish communities across Merseyside, Cheshire, Wigan and the wider North West.

At Irish Community Care people matter. We work with our communities to build strength and resilience, break down barriers and change lives. Our diverse Irish communities including, Irish, Irish by descent, Irish Traveller and Gypsy Traveller people have all made real and lasting change across Merseyside and beyond.

We are delighted to work in partnership with Liverpool Irish Centre – in fact, Irish Community Care originated from the old Irish Centre, 127 Mount Pleasant, where concerned community members offered a warm welcome, a helping hand and listening ear to those who needed it.

From this moment on, Irish Community Care has grown and evolved – supporting over 1000 people a year, while still offering our famous warm welcome and listening ear!

Our services include:

  • Passport and citizenship applications

  • Securing welfare benefit entitlements

  • Finding a place to live

  • Neighbour/community harassment & hate crime

  • Mental health

  • Substance Dependency

  • Getting active on online / learning to use technology

  • Dementia and memory loss support

  • Community and Cultural Connections and much more!

The Irish Community Care Team are at the Irish Centre every Thursday (12 – 3pm), offering support with all things ‘Digital’ - Learning to use your phone, laptop & IT support, staying safe online and more.

We run a dedicated memory loss group on the second Tuesday of every month (11am -1pm) – ‘Cuimhne’. This group is held at the Irish Centre and is a welcoming space for people living with memory loss and their carers.

Interested in volunteering for Irish Community Care? We are always on the lookout for volunteers! Can you make a great cup of tea or support an isolated Community Member feel more connected, perhaps you have a flair for events, or a skill you can share to upskill our Community Members. We have a variety of volunteering opportunities available – please get in touch for more information!
